Frequently Asked Questions
At Koko Boodakian & Sons our deep cleaning process involves water pressure cleaning and soaking a rug for an extended period of time. This allows the rug’s fibers to open up and naturally release many stains, odors and results in a softer and cleaner rug. Afterwards, the water is completely extracted from the rug and goes through our normal wash process with our enzyme treatment. We repeat this process as needed.
When we pick up your area rug, we can move light furniture to access the rugs and bring them back to our plant for cleaning. If you have specific spots of concern, feel free to point them out to us when we pick up your rug up so that we know to give them special treatment.
There are many factors that contribute to the cost of an oriental rug cleaning such as your rug’s age, country of origin, knot count, and more. Answer the quick questions on our cost calculator and get an instant estimate.
Based out of Winchester, MA, we proudly serve the Greater Boston area. But if you live outside of this do not worry! Ship us your rugs in need of service and we will clean them, and ship them back to you.
A rug is a floor covering that does not extend across the entire room and is not fastened to the floor. A carpet indicates wall-to-wall coverage and is attached with tacking strips and/or glue so it doesn’t come up.
It depends on the stain. Some are difficult or simply impossible to completely remove, but we always use advanced stain removal processes that are not available over the counter. Our success rate on stain removal is very high for all different kinds of stains. If we think another cleaning can resolve the issue, we will complete it at no additional charge.
Our standard cleaning process will remove most, if not all, odors. However, stubborn odors, like pet urine, can be removed with our deodorizer.
The answer to this question depends on the type of rug you own and where in your space it is placed. If your Persian rug is a light color, it will be easy to distinguish soling on the face of the rug. For high-traffic rugs or rugs in homes with pets, they should be cleaned annually. Rugs in living rooms and dining rooms can go between cleanings for 2-4 years. For bedrooms, most rugs only need a thorough professional cleaning every 5 years, and for rugs hung on the wall, every 10 years.
We can! Our highly skilled rug technicians are trained to get rid of all pet odors, hair, and stains. Our state-of-the-art equipment can handle any soiled areas that your pet has made on your rugs.
Not at all! With proper professional cleaning, your rug will look, feel, and smell as good as new.
A carpet cleaning machine can only wash the surface of your rug, therefore neglecting the fringes and back. Professional rug cleaners on the other hand can get deep within your rug’s fibers through their cycled wash process and provide a thorough cleaning job.
The timeframe for our oriental rug cleaning process is 2-3 weeks. However, if you are shipping your rug out to us, it may take longer to receive your rug and ship it back to you.
We provide various repair services, including but not limited to; tears, reweave, fringe repair/replacement, moth holes, rips, mildew, and burns.
Routinely clean, inspect, and apply moth repellent to your rug. If being stored, make sure your rug is wrapped in a moth-proof bundle. These wrappings prohibit the entrance of moths and insects and are available for purchase at our store
